About C.A.R.E.

The C.A.R.E. Foundation houses over two hundred rescued animals including big cats, black bears, monkeys, birds, crocodiles, various reptiles and assorted wildlife. They provide a variety of educational programs for schools, resorts, local attractions, and general public appearances throughout the community.

Their facility in Apopka, Florida features a guided tour of their animals and several Educational Programs. The Highlight of this Tour is their "Native Florida Wildlife" area, which is dedicated to the school children of Central Florida.

Between 2005 and 2016 Megaplex has raised more than $50,000 for the organization. This money has been used to help CARE improve and expand its facilities, including building new tiger enclosures, and help continue to provide animals with food, shelter, and veterinary care.

Check out C.A.R.E.'s Facebook and web blog! They are kept updated with photos and rescue stories.

The C.A.R.E. Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 Exotic Animal Rescue and Wildlife Education Facility. Want to know more? Visit thecarefoundation.org.

How Can I Help?

All weekend at Megaplex we'll be actively supporting The C.A.R.E. Foundation by raising money in different ways:

Thank you all for your generous support!

The Charity Auction

Our friends at C.A.R.E. will be holding a special presentation at the convention with many of the live animals they have rescued. After the presentation, we will be holding our annual Charity Auction ... and that's where you come in!

We're looking for artwork, memorabilia, collectibles, and other merchandise that can be auctioned off to raise money for C.A.R.E. 100% of all sales go to the charity. Help us make a difference by donating what you can!

These are our submission guidelines:

  1. You may wish to email us at mp-charity@megaplexcon.org with photos and a brief description of your donations, so we can preview it online and at the convention before the auction. (This will also save you some time, as we'll be taking down a description if we don't already have one when you drop the item off.)
  2. Donations should be in salable condition - clean, in good shape, with all parts included.
  3. Donations should be 'safe-for-work' and not of an adult nature.

Bring your donation and drop it off at the convention info desk by Registration. Please try to get your donation to us on Friday, so we have time to plan and prepare for the auction. (If you cannot attend Megaplex this year, you can email mp-charity@megaplexcon.org to arrange mailing your item in. Donations should be received at least one week before the convention.)

If you cannot join us this year, but still would like to help, donate to C.A.R.E. directly!

Thank you note from C.A.R.E.

At the end of December, Megaplex made another donation to C.A.R.E. This was a thank you note they sent us.

A BIG HELLO!

I really want to THANK you for your generous donation to once again help us out! We we try to be very self sufficient, even though we are non profit. Most of the time we can make adjustments when we know we are going into a lean month, but it was sprung on us very last minute at the end of December. Needless to say, we were not looking forward to the new year. With about 200 animals, you can imagine our feed bill. Feeding them always comes first. Your donation assured us that all their needs were met & we could also take care of the other bills that follow us monthly.

Thank you so very much! We very much look forward to the next Megaplex!

Sincerely, Christin & The rest of CARE
